What Exactly Is “Surf & Turf”?
A surf & turf can be defined as a plate on which there are both red meat and seafood. The most common combination is shellfish like lobster, crab, etc. with beef steak.
This type of plate is usually served on special occasions; and also, it is pretty easy to make at home. The most difficult thing to do is that you must make the most efficient use of your time. When preparing the lobster tail, you must take it out from the fridge to warm up. Once both of the meat are ready, you need to cook them at the same time. Specifically, as soon as you place the steaks on the grill pan, the lobster must be put into the oven.

6 Steps To Make A Surf And Turf Recipes Steak And Lobster
Prepare Lobster Tail
First of all, use shears or knife to cut along the middle of the lobster tail. Try to cut all the way from the back to the fin of the shell, and avoid the meat. Then, from the split shell, open it up slightly and pull your fingers throughout the inside to detach the lobster meat from the shell. Next, grab the meat and lift it up through the incision, squeeze the shell back together and let the meat rest on top of the shell. After that, make a shallow cut on the lobster meat along the center, so that you can easily sprinkle the spices. To end this lobster-tail-preparing process, rinse it under cool water, pat dry with paper towels and place it on a baking sheet.
Season The Lobster With Garlic Butter
To begin this step, you need to have a small bowl. Then, add in 2 tbsps of melted butter, lemonade, parsley, and 1 tsp of minced garlic. Make sure to stir those spices well; and finally, use a brush to sweep the mixture over the lobster meat.
Put the lobster meat in the oven at 425oF for 10 minutes, or 4 - 5 minutes if you broil it at a high temperature. To ensure that the lobster meat is not overcooked, don’t forget to check on it frequently! When the meat becomes firm and its internal temperature reaches 140oF, take it out immediately.
Prepare The Steak
Take the steak out of the fridge 20 - 30 minutes prior with the purpose of bringing them to room temperature. After this period of time, you should pat the steak dry; then use salt flakes and black pepper for seasoning.
Grill The Steak
Brush olive oil over the grill pan or skillet, then turn it onto medium heat for 3 - 4 minutes. When the grill pan is hot enough, place the steak on for about 1 minute. Next, rotate it 90 degrees to create criss-cross grill marks and cook for another minute. To add more flavor to the steak, add in melted butter and minced garlic by pouring the mixture over it with a spoon.
If you want the steak to medium-rare, cook until the internal temperature reaches 135oF. On the other hand, if you love to enjoy it medium done, cook until 140oF; then let the steak rest for 5 minutes.
You can do the opposite and this time apply only the grilling method to both: lobster and steak. Accordingly, when the steak is resting, you should grill the lobster over direct heat for 5 minutes flesh side down. Details on how to grill lobster tail you can see at the blog.
